At Aronica Plant Healthcare before we begin custom tailoring a program to suit your landscape's needs, we can analyze your soil and determine its nutritional and biological needs. Soil determines the way the living systems above and below ground perform, making it imperative that your soil has all the resources it needs to help these systems flourish.
We constantly monitor your plantings to ensure new and existing problems are managed and resolved.
Management (IPM) & Disease Control
We offer both conventional and organic spray programs for insect and disease problems that are tailored to your property's individual needs. We utilize IPM (Integrated Pest Management) which is based on three principles; monitoring, assessment and action. This widely used program is based on the most current information and methods to economically manage pests with the least impact to you and the environment.
Also while on your property we continually monitor for any cultural issues that may arise. This can include such problems as plants and turf that may be receiving too much or too little water and plants that need to be removed or pruned. With Aronica Plant Healthcare we provide a complete management of your landscape.
Our fertilization programs are designed to ensure the overall health of your trees and shrubs. We utilize both conventional and organic liquid fertilizers which are fortified with nutrients essential for plant growth and development as well as beneficial fungi which can also help increase the uptake of the root system. For plants that prefer an acidic soil, such as rhododendrons and hollies we apply a granular fertilizer specifically formulated for their needs.
For many evergreen plants winter is a harsh time of year. Plants such as rhododendrons and hollies have thick waxy coverings on their leaves to try to prevent water loss. Unfortunately, during the winter months the ground and any available water is frozen making it impossible for the plant to uptake. During these times if plants are exposed to harsh winds or profuse sunlight, the plant responds by releasing water from its leaves. This biological response combined with the unavailability of water results in winter burn. Anti-desiccant sprays coat the plant and help them to retain their water in winter's harsh conditions and decrease the occurrence of winter burn.
Our soil restoration program involves two methods. First, we top dress using the finest compost in the country; the addition of organic matter to your soil will increase its ability to hold water as well as its cation exchange capacity. Second, we will apply our custom compost tea brews that are enhanced by beneficial fungi, bacteria, macro and micro-nutrients, humates, kelp and mycorrhizae. These different ingredients help to restore your soils nutritional and biological balance, which will in turn assist your trees and shrubs with their overall health.
This program is designed to aid trees and shrubs that are showing signs of stress or that are clearly not thriving in their environment. We begin by testing your soil to verify pH and the nutritive value. We then apply compost around the drip line of your tree or shrub and fertilize with our custom compost tea brew that is enriched with beneficial fungi, bacteria, mycorrhizae, humates, kelp and other macro and micro-nutrients. Your ailing tree or shrub will be helped by the addition of nutrients and the return of soil microbes.
New and growing roots are primarily responsible for water and nutrient uptake that supports your tree's every biological function. This treatment is designed to increase the number of these "feeder" roots.
Our professional ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certified arborists will diagnose your plant's ailment, be it a cultural, disease or an insect related problem. We are also available for pre-project and post-project consulting to help ensure the health of your existing trees and shrubs by minimizing the impact to them during construction.
