Anti-Desiccant Winter Sprays

For many evergreen plants winter is a harsh time of year. Plants such as rhododendrons and hollies have thick waxy coverings on their leaves to try to prevent water loss. Unfortunately, during the winter months the ground and any available water is frozen making it impossible for the plant to uptake. During these times if plants are exposed to harsh winds or profuse sunlight, the plant responds by releasing water from its leaves. This biological response combined with the unavailability of water results in winter burn. Anti-desiccant sprays coat the plant and help them to retain their water in winter's harsh conditions and decrease the occurrence of winter burn.
